About

Introducing the Hockley Hustle Festival:

If you're new to the festival then expect something very special indeed. This year we're taking on over 20 venues around the Hockley area of Nottingham City Centre, from established live music venues to bars, pubs, tea shops and even the odd cinema. You pay for one wristband which gets you round all of these, and all of the proceeds of that - and every other penny raised on the day - go to Oxfam and the local NSPCC projects we support (visit www.hockleyhustle.co.uk), and the tickets are probably the biggest bargain you'll ever come across in your musical life at a tenner or less for over 200 acts representing every genre that we can possibly conjure up.

The festival's come on a lot since it began in 2006...Starting as part of Oxfam's "Oxjam" music festival on the simple premise of showing off some of Nottingham's best local talent it's evolved to involve a fair old chunk of Nottingham's promoters and creative groups across all of the best venues the district of Hockley has to offer.

Not often does a city come together behind one positive cause in such a fashion but Nottingham is one that clearly has the will and enthusiasm to do so, check out www.dropintheocean.org for more cold hard evidence of this fact.

It literally takes hundreds of people to make the event what it is, from volunteers to bars and businesses to the musicians that more often than not are playing for free (though a few get a bit of petrol money!). On top of that the event is financed by the very businesses that make the city what it is, thanks to the Nottingham Leisure Partnership. Visit www.gotonottingham.co.uk for more info. Get along on Sunday the 25th of October and see exactly what this vast rallying of energy and enthusiasm can actually accomplish.

Finally, the people who really keep the festival alive are those that come along, donate, drag a few friends and bring a smile... so a big thanks to you for all the support.
